My newest favorite song…

This song has been stuck in my head for several days…  “This Is Who I Am” by Third Day

Best of all, I am getting tickets and possibly back stage passes to see them Sunday night in Hatteisburg, MS!!

right on red AFTERSTOP

Why do we always leave of the last part of “Right on Red”?  Between my house and my office this morning I watched 8 different cars at 4 different intersections turn right on red and not even slow down.  Even in an article on Wikipedia they mention that most people don’t get the “AFTER STOP” part…

From Wikipedia:

Right turn on red (RTOR) is a principle of law permitting vehicles at a traffic light showing a red signal to turn right (almost always after a complete stop) when the way is clear, in a country with right-hand traffic. RTOR has been practiced in the western United States for more than 50 years, with the eastern states adopting the law in the 1970s.”

ALMOST ALWAYS AFTER A COMPLETE STOP?!?!?  Really?   One of these idiots will kill or seriously injure someone one day and never believe it was their fault.

WAB-TV NEWS (Parodies)

I recently started helping a friend make some parody news videos.  I do some of the camera work and then the post production editing and such.

Here is Episode 1 and 2:

Change…

It’s a new year, a new president, a new administration.  But is it “the new boss, same as the old boss” ? ?   I guess we’ll see if he can keep up with the media hype.  I have not seen him walk on water yet, but maybe he is pacing himself!  :-)

I guess we just have to wait and see what happens.  Didn’t like the last administration and am not expecting to like this one.  It has gotten to the point you have to be a little crazy to WANT to be President now.

Oh time, how it flies…

It has been over a month since I had time to post anything here.  I guess I have not had any startling revelations I had to share either…

Macbook

I fought against Apple computers for years. And I mean years.  My first computer classes in 1987 were on Apple IIe and Apple IIc computers.  I avoided them, that is until recently, when they went to Intel platforms and OSX came out.  I used a few Macs that friends had and then went to work for a software company that makes software for Macs, Windows, and Linix operating systems.  Well, I finally game in…  I know have a Macbook and this is my first post to come from it.  It is a bit of a learning curve, since I was such a windows PC devotee, but I am liking it and learning more.  The more I learn, the more I like…

Booo Craigslist!!!

When I first learned of Craigslist and the idea behind it, I was rather excited.  I enjoy finding a good deal on something someone else no longer needs.  But the scams have taken over and Craigslist appears unable or unwilling to do anything about it.  Having spent a decent amount of time perusing CL ads, I have learned very quickly how to tell what is a scam and what is real.  Why can the CL Police not do the same?  SCAM car ads that have been reported are allowed to remain active for days before being removed.  The scammers use the same text, the same pictures, and the same email addresses OVER AND OVER.  How hard would it be for Craigslist to modify their code so that certain text strings are not allowed or set off a flag?  Everytime xxx@xxx.com email address appears, automatically delete it.  Easy fix…  But they are not willing or are unable to figure this out.  I have emailed them a couple of times and asked questions or made suggestions.  They do not respond.  So I guess I will just boycott the scammers that have taken over Craigslist until the people running it care to try to clean up the place…   It could be such a great service, but if you can’t control the crooks, the then crooks will take over!

Back to School…

Yellow busses, longer traffic lines, school supplies, etc.  It’s that time again and with 2 daughters who just moved to a new school, it means some major changes.  Luckily their new school offers school supplies on campus so for around $40 per child, we purchased almost everything needed and did not have to set one foot in Target, Wal-Mart or Office Depot.  With gas prices what they are, not going to three places to find it all is a big savings.  I was in Wal-Mart for something unrelated to school and just walking by the school supply aisles was scary.  Disheveled parents, whining kids, and the shelves looking like Katrina just blew through again…  Also, at the current school, we are not required to bring paper towels, 409, hand wipes, and all of the weird items the old school system requested!!
