More on Dumbing Down of America’s Future

So I see this story today: 

“Principal Tells Teachers To Dumb-Down Standards

City Hall Angered; Central Park East High Students Miffed”

Link  -  So even in New York they are trying to dumb things down to just keep shuffling our future generations through school.  I have heard from local persons involved with our schools that they are not allowed to fail a child.  They are made to let them barely slip by and move on to the next grade.  And the same people who are wanting to dumb down our schools are the same ones who complain when we have to increase visas for foreign workers because there are not enough Americans with enough education to fill all of the high-tech jobs.  This dumbing down has been going on for long enough that we are now seeing these people out in the workforce.  Is it too late to stop the downward spiral?  Will the “social engineers” let us take the necessary steps to correct our education system?
