Responsible Parents

I am not sure why I have been on a parenting and education kick lately, but I guess it is something on my mind as I try to find ways to help my daughters get the proper education and earn the right opportunities in life.  This morning I was perusing the Clarion Ledger website (our local newspaper) and came across a story about some parents who appear to be willing to be responsible for their children.  An article called “Parents turn in suspects in shooting” caught my attention.  LINK to ARTICLE   It appears that the parents of two teens found out there own children were responsible for a breakin and shooting at a neighbors house and turned them into police.  So many parents around here seem to refuse to acknowledge that their little angels could ever do anything wrong.  Perhaps paying the penalty for this crime will help keep them from continuing down the criminal path.  So many times you see parents who let their children get away with more and more.  They have the “my kids not going to jail” attitude.  The child continues to do worse and worse things until they do something the parent can’t get them out.  I beleive that if the parent let them experience the punishment for shoplifting or vandalism or the entry level crimes it might deter them from the more serious crimes later on.
