Christmas hustle and bustle
Most people around here are big enough idiots on a normal day. But add the Christmas rush, the shopping high, the quest for the perfect gift, the cell phone attached to ear, the traffic, the lines, the poor customer service, and all of the other troubles and one wonders if anyone remembers what Christmas is about. The season of giving apparently starts at sun-up on Christmas Day. The me-first shoppers won’t give an inch. They fight, they elbow, they argue, they cut you off in traffic and why? So they can buy presents to GIVE. How about giving a break to the person stuck behind you as you weave all over the road. How about giving a break to the people trying to enter and exit a store while you and your family herd stand IN THE DOOR.
A woman almost cut in front of me and my daughter in the horrendously long line at the local Best Buy. She had tunnel vision on her objective so she did not see other people standing around her. She noticed us standing there all of a sudden and you could see the panic and embarrassment hit her. She tried to apologize and in good Christmas spirit, I told her to go right ahead of us and have a Merry Christmas… I have a feeling most people would have scowled at her and pushed to get in front of her. But in a line moving this slow, what’s another 3 minutes. ![]()
